Fue en Zurich, en Junio de 1979 en un ONUDI banco de desarrollo de la conferencia que AADFI, ADFIAP y ALIDE, conjuntamente con la KfW de Alemania firmaron un acuerdo para establecer la Federaci\u00f3n Mundial de Instituciones de Financiaci\u00f3n del Desarrollo (WFDFI). Sus primeros gobernadores fueron Willi F. L. Engel de KfW, Alemania; Ren\u00e9 Amichia de AADFI, Costa de Marfil; Tom\u00e1s Pastoriza de ALIDE, Rep\u00fablica Dominicana; y Vicente R. Jayme de ADFIAP, Filipinas. A finales de 1979, el WFDFI abri\u00f3 su secretar\u00eda en el Instituto de Cr\u00e9dito Oficial (ICO) en Madrid, entonces presidida por Rafael Bermejo Blanco.<\/p><\/div>

Jos\u00e9 El\u00edas Gallegos se convirti\u00f3 en su primer secretario general. Desde entonces han pasado m\u00e1s de once secretarios generales, como se muestra a continuaci\u00f3n. La sede de WFDFI estaba en Madrid desde 1979 hasta 1994, cuando se tom\u00f3 la decisi\u00f3n de dar WFDFI de la rotaci\u00f3n en la Secretar\u00eda por el que la secretar\u00eda asumido por cada una de las regionales de la asociaci\u00f3n por un per\u00edodo de tres a\u00f1os. La Secretar\u00eda ha sido con ADFIAP en Manila, de 1995 a 1998 por tres a\u00f1os y luego se traslad\u00f3 a ADFIMI en Estambul en 1999 a 2002, con Orhan Sagci de Turqu\u00eda sirviendo como Secretario General. En Mayo De 2002, Rommel Acevedo, Secretario General de ALIDE se convirti\u00f3 en el Secretario General de WFDFI hasta el a\u00f1o 2009. Octavio B. Peralta de ADFIAP fue elegido como Secretario General de WFDFI en Estambul en 2009 por un per\u00edodo de tres a\u00f1os, comenzando el 1 de enero de 2010 a 2013 y el Se\u00f1or Nuri Birtek, Secretario General de ADFIMI fue elegido en la reuni\u00f3n del consejo directivo en Tokio el 11 de octubre de 2012. Se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 durante tres a\u00f1os a partir de enero 2013-2016.<\/p><\/div>

En su Junta de Gobernadores (BoG) reuni\u00f3n celebrada en la Sede de ALIDE, en Lima, Per\u00fa, 7 de octubre de 2015, la Federaci\u00f3n Mundial de Instituciones de Financiaci\u00f3n del Desarrollo (WFDFI) designado ADFIAP como su Secretar\u00eda a partir de enero de 2016, lo que es la segunda vez desde 2010 que ADFIAP fue nombrado como WFDFI Secretar\u00eda. En consecuencia, la ADFIAP Secretario General, Octavio B. Peralta, se convirti\u00f3 en el Secretario General de WFDFI por segunda vez en cinco a\u00f1os.<\/p><\/div>

En su reuni\u00f3n de 23 de octubre de 2018, en el Acapulco Resort and Convention Hotel con Spa en Kyrenia, Chipre del Norte, el WFDFI consejo directivo decidi\u00f3 pasar por encima de WFDFI de la Secretar\u00eda de ADFIAP a la Secretar\u00eda de AADFI con efecto a partir del 1 de enero de 2019, para un mandato de tres a\u00f1os. En consecuencia, el Se\u00f1or Jos\u00e9 A. Amihere, Secretario General de AADFI, tambi\u00e9n se convirti\u00f3 en el Secretario General de WFDFI, hasta su jubilaci\u00f3n a partir de los servicios de AADFI en 28 de febrero de 2020. A partir de febrero de 2020 a abril de 2022, el Se\u00f1or Cirilo A. Okoye, Secretario General de AADFI, fue tambi\u00e9n el Secretario General de WFDFI. El 4 de abril de 2022 se celebr\u00f3 la Junta de Gobernadores de 2022, donde ALIDE asumi\u00f3 la presidencia y de la secretar\u00eda general para tres a\u00f1os.
