The Seminar for Chief Executives of Development Banks organized by the World Federation of Development Financing Institutions www.wfdfi.org.ph and hosted by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) www.cipe.org was successfully held on October 11, 2010 at the CIPE headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The theme, “Institutional Integrity: Promoting Transparency & Accountability in DFIs”, afforded 40 participants from 30 institutions in 25 countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, North America and the Middle East to share and exchange information and experiences on good governance, business ethics and anti-corruption practices.
Dr. Stephen Davis, Executive Director of the Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance at the Yale School of Management and Mr. Nathaniel Heller, Managing Director of Global Integrity were the main speakers. Mr. Rajender Mohan Malla, Chairman & Managing Director of IDBI Bank India Ltd., Mr. Hector Rangel, General Director of Nacional Financiera, Mexico, Mr. Mvuleni Geoffrey Qhena, CEO of the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Ltd. and Mr. Mehmet Emin, Özcan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halkbank in Turkey provided their country and institutional experiences on the subject.
Dr. Nicholas Bruck, WFDFI Adviser and formerly with the World Bank, acted as seminar director and program facilitator. Dr. John D. Sullivan, CIPE Executive Director and Mr. Octavio B. Peralta. ADFIAP Secretary General, opened the seminar and welcomed the participants.
