The 2025 Joint Summary Report on Multilateral Development Banks’ Climate Finance presents the collective climate finance commitments of ten major multilateral development banks. The report tracks financing for mitigation and adaptation across regions, sectors and financial instruments, while also presenting climate co-finance mobilised from public and private sources.
In 2025, MDB climate finance reached nearly USD 163 billion globally, including almost USD 103 billion directed to low- and middle-income economies. Climate finance for these economies increased by 21 percent compared with 2024, while adaptation finance rose by 31 percent to USD 35 billion. The report also highlights the catalytic role of MDBs in mobilising private finance, with private climate co-finance reaching USD 116 billion globally.
The publication further details the distribution of climate finance by activity, including energy, transport, buildings, agriculture, water and financial services, as well as by instrument, including investment loans, guarantees, grants, policy-based lending, lines of credit and green bonds. It also highlights ongoing efforts by MDBs to improve the transparency and accessibility of climate finance data through the MDB Climate Finance Dashboard.
