ALIDE’s 56th General Assembly Concludes with the Asunción Declaration

El 56th General Assembly of the Latin American Association of Development Finance Institutions (ALIDE) concluded in Asunción, Paraguay, with the adoption of the Asunción Declaration, a document that outlines the main commitments of development finance institutions to promote productive transformation, sustainability, financial inclusion and regional cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Adopted after three days of high-level discussions, the Declaration identifies investment, innovation and inclusion as key priorities for addressing the challenges of an evolving global economic landscape. It also highlights opportunities arising from industrialization, digital transformation, the energy transition and the reconfiguration of global value chains.

The document reaffirms the role of development banks in financing resilient infrastructure, supporting innovation and digitalization, expanding financial inclusion—particularly for MSMEs and vulnerable populations—and mobilizing climate finance. It also underscores the importance of measuring development impact and strengthening regional cooperation among development finance institutions.

The Assembly also announced that Belize will host the 57th ALIDE General Assembly in 2027, with the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) serving as the host institution for the Association’s next annual meeting.
