El esfuerzo global para combatir el cambio climático, así como la necesidad de adaptar y aumentar la resiliencia al cambio climático (adaptación al cambio climático) plantean una serie de desafíos y oportunidades para las instituciones financieras en la región de MENA. UNEPFI se sometieron a un proceso de consulta con los miembros de los bancos en la región de MENA sobre las finanzas del clima en general y de oportunidades para proveer apoyo en la ampliación de la financiación del sector privado para la acción climática en la región.

El presente documento publicado por el BID vislumbra algunos lineamientos para el diseño de instrumentos de política para impulsar la innovación verde en la región. A pesar de su gran potencial en fomentar un nuevo modelo donde crecimiento económico y generación de empleo sean compatibles con la sostenibilidad del sistema natural, varios factores, tanto internos como externos a las empresas, han limitado su difusión en el tejido empresarial de la región.

Linking Climate Change Financing to Sustainability: Implications for Agriculture
In the context of Development Finance Institutions’ (DFIs) efforts to mobilise private sector capital in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement, this document explore the progress to date from the perspective of private sector banks and focus, among others, on how banks choose to align their operations with the SDGs and the nature of the relationship that banks have with DFIs.
