Description:

Green finance is a critical trigger for this lever in order to meet the globally committed investments in achieving the SDGs, and it is one of the most important levers for promoting sustainable and climate-resilient food systems. Providing environmental benefits through social governance is a function that high-potential, green financial services can play. Policymakers at all levels must work together to ensure that the agrifood sector can benefit from green financing, which may help to promote sustainable growth and generate value from the environment. In order to alleviate the existing pressure on short- and medium-term results, as well as to successfully transition to green finance, there is a growing demand for longer-term policy development. For this transition to be successful there needs to be policy coherence across the various economic, environmental, and sectoral initiatives.
