Public banks, public water: exploring the links in Europe

Public banks have played an important role in financing public water
and sanitation services in Europe for over a century, but these activities
have been largely ignored in the academic literature. This special issue
is an initial corrective to this research gap, providing conceptual
insights and empirical information on eight countries and regions in
Europe, covering a wide range of public banks working with public
water operators.

2022 CEO Forum of African DFIs

The 2022 CEO Forum of African DFIs was held from November 23 to 25, 2022, at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC), in Gaborone, Botswana. The objectives of the forum were to discuss the challenges of inadequate resources in promoting SDG projects in Africa and to come up with actionable, innovative measures to scale up resource mobilization by DFIs.

Responses of Latin American development banks to the economic crisis by the covid 19 in particular in agricultural and smes sectors

Even with more knowledge of the economic effects, the international crisis caused by the
COVID-19 pandemic showed an uncertain picture at the beginning.
In this paper we focus our attention on the measures, actions and the role of public development
banks, particularly in the agricultural and micro, small and medium-sized enterprise sectors,
during the covid 19 crisis.

Meanings of Public and the Future of Public Services

Critically assessing meanings of the term “public”, this book situates the emergence and expansion of “public services” within market-based forms of production and consumption. It highlights the potential for making public services more progressive within market societies, but underscores their ongoing capture by private interests and emphasises the inherent limits of reform within a “bourgeois public sphere”.
