The Use of Carbon Credits in Climate Target Setting

To support Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) member banks in developing targets, the
Alliance has developed this short paper to provide clarification on the already-published
Guidelines for Climate Target Setting for Banks outlining how the Alliance views the treatment
of offsetting in relation to member commitments.
The paper does not introduce additional principles that member banks must meet as
part of their NZBA commitment.

SBFN Toolkit: Developing Sustainable Finance Roadmaps

The toolkit builds on the SBFN Measurement Framework Methodology, a comprehensive assessment to benchmark sustainable finance progress in line with international standards. It also references existing guidance documents such as the “Toolkits for Policymakers to Green the Financial System” by the World Bank, “An Analysis of Sustainable Finance Roadmaps: Charting the Path to Financial System Transformation” by the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action and UNDP Financial Centers for Sustainability (FC4S)

Public banks, public water: exploring the links in Europe

Public banks have played an important role in financing public water
and sanitation services in Europe for over a century, but these activities
have been largely ignored in the academic literature. This special issue
is an initial corrective to this research gap, providing conceptual
insights and empirical information on eight countries and regions in
Europe, covering a wide range of public banks working with public
water operators.

This report draws from data collected for the EIB Investment Survey 2022-2023. It examines the willingness of European firms to address climate change in the current context of the energy crisis. First, it presents the answers provided by firms across the European Union to a set of questions on energy and climate change. Then, it goes more in-depth by providing firms’ answers in each EU country.

Congo Basin Climate Commission

The present study was drafted under the overall leadership of Vera Songwe, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), in close collaboration with Hanan Morsy, Deputy Executive Secretary and Chief Economist at ECA, and with guidance provided by Jean-Paul Adam, Director of Technology, Climate Change and Natural Resources Management Division at ECA. The formulation of the standardized and harmonized protocol was supervised by Nassim Oulmane, Chief of the Green and Blue Economy Section at ECA, and Louis Mitondo Lubango, Environmental Affairs Officer, Technology, Climate Change and Natural Resources Management Division. Maxim Lobovikov provided detailed input to facilitate the development of the protocol.
