This document presents the overarching approach through which EIB Global, together with partners, can support countries, clients and organisations in pursuing a just transition and a just resilience. This approach has been developed with inputs from a range of expert organisations and partner MDBs, to which the EIB would like to express its sincere gratitude.

How large is the borrowing cost advantage of state-owned enterprises?

The authors provide new evidence of lower borrowing costs for state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Utilizing ORBIS ownership data matched to financing transactions in syndicated loan and bond markets, regressions and propensity score matching estimates confirm the lower financing costs for SOEs in both advanced and developing economies when compared to the private sector.

THE IMPACT OF DISASTERS ON AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY AVOIDING AND REDUCING LOSSES THROUGH INVESTMENT IN RESILIENCE

Disasters are resulting in unprecedented levels of destruction across the world. These shocks and disruptions affect the functioning and sustainability of agricultural production and threaten the livelihoods of millions of people reliant on agrifood systems.
The report provides examples of actions and strategies for investing in resilience and proactively addressing risks in agriculture.

Under Pressure: Effects, Impacts, and Adaptation to Climate change in Latin American and Caribbean Water Operators

This monograph provides an overview of the various impacts of climate change on the provision of water and sanitation services, as well as the adaptation options available to water operators. Using data from the DesInventar database, the document analyzes which events are most prevalent in the sub-regions of Latin America and the Caribbean and which events particularly affect water and sanitation systems.

The risk outlook for regional financial conditions is
generally balanced. On the upside, softening inflation in
the region has led most regional central banks to move
toward the end of their monetary tightening cycles.
A faster-than-expected decline in inflation in advanced
economies, combined with financial risk considerations,
might lead to a less hawkish monetary stance in advanced
economies. However, the inflation path remains
uncertain. Elevated price pressures together with a robust
economic performance and strong job market in the US
could support further monetary tightening.

BUILDING GREENER, RESILIENT TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE INNOVATING WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND DIGITAL TWINS IN ROAD DESIGN IN UZBEKISTAN

This publication shares learning from a collaborative road design assessment. Asian Development
Bank (ADB) staff from multiple departments worked with construction materials platform ORIS and
government partners to optimize the design of a section of highway in Uzbekistan.
The project was supported by ADB’s Digital Innovation Sandbox and was piloted by the Transport and
Communications Division of the Central and West Asia Department.
