Description: The Finance for An Equitable Recovery Report is a new World Development Report prepared by the staff of The World Bank with external contributions. The report focuses on the interconnected economic risks that households, businesses, financial institutions, and governments around the world face as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. The Report presents new research findings on the interconnectedness of balance sheets and the potential spillover effects across sectors. Based on these findings, it makes policy recommendations. It specifically addresses how to reduce the financial risks resulting from the extraordinary policies enacted in response to the COVID-19 crisis while promoting equitable recovery. The Report identifies several priority areas for action to mitigate elevated financial risks induced by governments' response to the global economic crisis spawned by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the President of The World Bank Group, the Report charts a road map to tackle the financial vulnerabilities created by the COVID-19 crisis.
